How he gives back to the community:
During his time in school, Alex was involved with a variety of architectural projects and competitions that aimed to help rebuild post-Katrina New Orleans. In 2008, Alex’s design studio won third place in the national “J.P. Morgan Chase Community Development Competition” for a financially and architecturally sustainable project that would contribute to the needs of a devastated neighborhood in New Orleans. The project received $10,000 to be given to the Pontilly Disaster Collaborative (PDC) as an associated  non-profit partner. Alex also won a national competition sponsored by the “Mother Nature Network” to become a student correspondent for the state of Louisiana. He now actively writes reports on environmental issues in or around the city of New Orleans to be posted on the organization’s website. Alex is a member of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) and is an avid supporter of New Orleans solar energy initiatives, and continues to push for a cleaner, more smartly built planet.
